Put text behind the subject in your photo, in seconds

The text-behind-image effect is a design trend where text appears to sit between the background of a photo and its main subject, like a person's body partially covering writing on a wall behind them. It became popular on Instagram, TikTok, and design platforms because it makes posters, social posts, and thumbnails feel more dimensional and intentional than text simply pasted on top of an image.

The visual works by cutting the subject out from the background, layering the text in between, then placing the cutout back on top so the subject naturally occludes parts of the text. Done well, it reads as if the text was always there and the subject just happens to be standing in front of it.

Drop a photo. AI segmentation identifies the main subject in the image and produces a mask separating foreground from background. We use that mask to build three layers: the original photo as the back layer, your editable text in the middle, and the cut-out subject on top.
