This policy explains what data videocaptions.ai collects, how we use it, and your choices. We collect only what we need to operate the Service and improve it.
An account is required for certain features such as video export. We collect your email address via our authentication provider. We use your email to send you product updates and notifications. We do not sell or share your email with third parties.
We collect anonymous usage analytics — pages visited, features used, and export events. No personally identifiable information is attached to these events.
We capture JavaScript errors and stack traces to improve the Service. Error reports contain browser metadata (browser version, OS) but no personal data and no content from your files.
We collect anonymised page load performance metrics to improve speed. No cookies are used for performance tracking.
When you use cloud transcription, your audio is temporarily uploaded to our cloud infrastructure and sent to a third-party speech-to-text service for processing. Audio files are automatically deleted from our servers after transcription is complete. Editing, styling, and export happen locally in your browser. Projects are saved to your browser's local storage. We do not use your content for training, advertising, or any purpose other than providing the Service to you.
We do not use tracking cookies. Our authentication provider uses a session cookie to keep you signed in. This cookie is strictly necessary and contains no advertising data.
We use third-party service providers for authentication, cloud storage, speech-to-text transcription, analytics, error monitoring, and hosting. These providers receive only the minimum data necessary to perform their function and are bound by their own privacy policies. Your audio is processed by third-party cloud services solely for the purpose of generating transcriptions. We do not share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Audio files uploaded for transcription are automatically deleted from our cloud storage after processing. Project data (captions, styling, timing) is stored locally in your browser and is not sent to our servers. Account data (email) is retained until you request deletion.
You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing us. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.
We may update this policy. We will notify beta users by email of material changes. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
