Remove background from WebP

WebP is great for the web, less great when you need transparency added after the fact. Drop in any WebP and the tool returns a transparent PNG of the subject in about two seconds. No signup, no watermark.

How it works

Three steps. Two seconds.

01

Pick your image

Drop in a JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 10 MB. Works on phone, tablet, or laptop.

02

AI removes the background

Our model trims the subject in about two seconds. No queue, no signup, no upsell.

03

Download the transparent PNG

Get a PNG with a transparent background, ready to drop into any design, slide, or template.

What people use it for

One tool, many jobs

Pick the use case closest to what you need.

Web design exports

Modern design tools and CMSes default to WebP. Drop one in to make a transparent version for a hero, banner, or product tile. The transparent PNG layers cleanly over background gradients and section colors without you having to redo the original export.

Mobile screenshots

Android often saves screenshots as WebP. Pull a UI element or subject out without first converting back to PNG. That saves a step in the usual workflow and keeps the resulting cutout at full screenshot resolution.

Optimized stock

Performance-conscious stock libraries serve WebP. Skip the conversion step and remove the background directly. You end up with one clean transparent PNG ready for downstream design work, instead of juggling two formats along the way.

Quick answers

Everything worth knowing about the background remover.

PNG is the safest transparent format, every editor and platform supports it. We may add WebP output later, but PNG works everywhere. If you need WebP at the end of the pipeline, convert the transparent PNG in a separate step once the cutout is finalized.

Not for background removal. The model reads the full pixel data either way; the cutout is identical to what you'd get from a PNG source. WebP's compression does its work on the encoded file, not on the decoded pixels the model actually sees.

Only the first frame is processed. Animated outputs aren't supported, most use cases for cutouts are static anyway. If you need every frame, export your animation as individual frames first and drop each one through the tool one at a time.

JPEG, PNG, and WebP for input. The output is always a transparent PNG so you can layer it over any background.

Yes. iPhone, iPad, and Android browsers are fully supported. The processing happens on our server, so device memory is not a constraint.

Yes. The tool only modifies your image, you keep the rights you had to the original. Make sure you have permission for the source photo.

About two seconds per image once a server is warm. A request after a long idle period can take up to 30 seconds for the model to spin back up.

An open-source background-removal model running on our own infrastructure. We don't proxy to a third-party paid service.
